Looks like I wrote another book, for heaven sakes. It's called EARTHLY PLEASURES and Publishers Weekly describes it best:

It's a about a greeter in Heaven who falls in love with a mortal on Earth and its written under the pen name Karen Neches (which just so happens to be my married name.)


I'll be at Pastel Central (2120 Central Avenue) on February 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. for a wine and cheese reception . Another wine and cheese reception will also be at the Bookstall in Aiken (413 Hayne Ave) on Feb. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. and a book-signing will take place at Borders on February 9 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

gee whiz

as i was driving down walton way around 8 pm, following cheryl's pickup truck through the neighborhood maze that confounds me almost always, i thought of how damned nice it was to have wba tonight.

i left my notes, and i'll have to get 'em from laurie. (how did that happen? i had my daytimer and my shoes! and the bag of new name tags. and i left the uneaten half of the five pound bag of peanut m&ms!!! better there than here)

i was having a semi-yucky week. but the gathering, the gaggle, the group of gals gave me ... i could say gumption, to keep it goin, but the truth is closer to: peace and strength.

we all go through lows. mostly we have good reasons for being blue. but most of us don't dwell on that. hence: gail is laughing, and hanging with the wobbers on a wednesday in laurie's backyard.

plus. we sang, "we lo-ove you Gail" to the tune of happy birthday to you.

we had about a baker's dozen at laurie's. if you weren't there, we'll see you next time at karin's.

Local artist, Susan Johnston has an amazing series of 19 paintings that were premiered at Pastel on Central this past Thursday evening. It was a wonderful evening with a huge attendance. If you were not there, you missed a great evening! The paintings are a "MUST SEE". This is the first time Susan has painted since her mother's death. They were very close. Susan says "The images in this series comes from a small collection of Victorian Lamps and are an expression of celebration and joy in a world of constant movement and ambiguity." They truly make you smile to look at them and the colors are amazing! The paintings will stay hung as a series for about a week and then will continue to stay at Pastel but some will go to Aiken and others will get moved around; those that have not been sold.

I think most of us who have been around Augusta for a long time, or life, know Susan Johnston. Her mother was Mary Ann Harris, both accomplished artists who taught and exhibited in the US, France and Spain. Susan is a native of California and her father was a jazz musician in his early days. Susan is Executive Director for a local and little know foundation that does wonderful things for those who need assistance, The Greater Augusta Citizen's Advocacy Council.

Who among us wouldn't love someone to dig in the dirt with us? You wouldn't believe Carolyn's gardens. She lives on Evans to Locks backing up to the golf course, and her yard was featured in Georgia Gardening a year ago.
